Backend Developer
Job description
As a backend developer at Appboy, you'll join a team of 4 other engineers working to provide both the server backend for our mobile client SDKs and the entire stack of our online developer dashboard. Using a host of modern technologies, the backend team tackles issues including how to most efficiently deliver real time statistical data on millions of users, building an auto-scaling self-managed cluster of asynchronous workers, designing blazing fast web applications and creating intuitive and beautiful user interfaces/experience. The specific areas that any developer on our team works on is determined by that developer's affinities and abilities, but everyone is expected to branch out, learn a lot and build amazing products.
Skills & Experience
Recommended Qualifications:
- Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
- Experience with functional languages and MVC such as Ruby on Rails or Python/Django
- Understanding of algorithms, data structures, and design
Bonus:
- Experience handling rapid user growth
- Experience building and designing large scale applications
- Experience with Rails, JS or Coffeescript, and modern web technologies
- Previous work at startups
- Product or UI/UX design

Android Developer
Job Description
As an Android developer at Appboy, you'll work directly with our CTO to build the Android equivalent of our iOS SDK. Candidates should have previous experience with software and product design and be able to intelligently discuss and defend design decisions. We're much more interested in working with great technologists who have strong abilities and a desire to learn than we are in finding already existing knowledge of Android.
