At all the major sports events, there are thousands of people with phones that could be relaying the score to people not there. Additionally, they could be relaying more than the simple score but also comments on how the game/match is going from the fan’s perspective.
I envision an app where people could post the score and make comments on a particular game. The schedule for all the major sports could be imported into the app and comments could happen in real time.

could probably use twitter as a backend so that a search could be done for hashtags or keywords that would indicate the game being commented on.

n3yne That's a good idea. It would then be a twitter live blog too.
