Location based to-do list
Category: reference
Create a to-do list manager that organizes lists based on where you currently are. For instance, if I’m at work, I want to see work items. If I’m at home, I want to see home items.
The problem with current to-do lists is that I’m constantly reminded to buy toilet paper while I’m at work. I only want to be reminded to do home things when I’m at home.

Great idea! Wish I made more free time to create this.

This app is not location-based. It's just smartly categorised, but doesn't show different things depending on where you are! If it had some kind of GPS plugin in order to tell the app where your home is or where your work place is, it would be what micajobe says.

I just made an app like this and it is in the queue to be approved by Apple. I am calling it lodü. All appboy members will be able to get the app for free. I will post more information on this promo when the app is approved by Apple.

Great idea! So what would you see when say your were driving from one location to the next? Or at neither location?
sean Wed, Nov 4 12:39 p.m.
@benjamincharity My app allows you to specify a radius. When you are not in radius of any location then it shows the "anywhere" category.
The app I created has little value until Apple allows background apps so that it can alert you of tasks when you come in range.

was your app approved?
sean Tue, Jan 12 10:28 a.m.
Yes. In September 2009.

For those of you with webOS devices (Palm Pre and Palm Pixi), I wrote an app called GeoStrings which allows you to set location-based reminders. It runs in the background and notifies the user when they are near one of their target locations. Search for "GeoStrings" on this site to check it out.

Very cool. Nice work.
I can't wait until they release background functionality to the iPhone!
Hedami Thu, Feb 11 11 a.m.
Yes it's definitely something I'm keeping a close eye on. I'd love to bring GeoStrings to the iPhone. I think eventually Apple will have to figure out a way to incorporate 3rd party background processes into their OS. It opens a door to a slew of new types of apps.

Definitely keep the community posted as you hear more. It's hard to sift through all the rumors!
Hedami Fri, Feb 12 5:20 a.m.
I definitely will if I ever hear any interesting iPhone multitasking-related news.
Darius Tue, Mar 2 2:33 p.m.
I'd like to see this in BlackBerry. Anyone knows of anything on the way of this kind?
AndroidsAndSheep Thu, Mar 11 11:42 a.m.
Remember the Milk does this on Android however you are expected to convert to a Pro account ( ~$25 / yr ). Don't know how it works on iPhone though.
RTM also does background GPS checks and automatically notifies you if there's a nearby task.
